Baptism of Jesus

In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matt. 3:1-2)

Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.  They were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. (Matt. 3:5-6)

“I indeed baptize you with water for repentance.” But he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to bear.” (Matt. 3:11)

“He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matt. 3:11)

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John, at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. (Matt. 3:13)

But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him. (Matt. 3:15)

Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. (Matt. 3:16)

He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.  (Matt. 3:16)

A voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (Matt. 3:17)
